A great choice for growers in warmer climates, the Emerald blueberry is a newer Southern Highbush variety that needs only 200+ chilling hours to produce high yields of very large blueberries. A newcomer to the market, this variety was released in 1999 and produces long, dense clusters of berries. You'll love the extended harvest season since the berries don't all ripen at the same time.

These beautiful evergreen bushes are low-maintenance and require little pruning to keep their shape and size. The delicious berries ripen early—typically in May or June in southern climates and California, or mid-July to August in the Northwest. Yields can be significantly increased by planting a pollinator nearby, such as O'Neal or Star.
